ABOUT US:

St. John’s is officially named St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Congregation of Easton, Pennsylvania.  We are part of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod and a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).  Check out more information about them using the web addresses:  NE Penn Synod www.godslove.org, ELCA-www.elca.org

St. John’s has a congregation council made up of 12 voting members of the congregation.  The council has responsibility for overseeing the life of the congregation.  We work through committees or ministries.  The standing committees are:  Membership, Outreach, Spiritual Life, Property, and Finance.  There are other committees as needed and desired.

As a community of God Striving to be open to all people, we at St John’s Lutheran Congregation believe that the gospel is God’s Gift to all people, to be shared unconditionally.  We welcome all to join us as we struggle to better understand the mysteries of God’s teachings.  We are challenged by Christ to care for, to love, to understand, and to listen to each other, regardless of race age gender, marital status, physical and mental abilities, sexual/affectional orientation, national origin or economic status.  We celebrate together our unity as God’s people.  St Johns Lutheran Congregation is a place for each person to shine in their own unique gifts.

Staff

The Reverend Susan D. Ruggles began serving as pastor for ST. John’s in May, 2006.  A graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and Lafayette College, Pastor Sue has lived in Easton for over 20 years.

The Director of Music is Jessica Madow.  Jessica plays for all services at the church, weddings and funerals and directs all choirs.

The office staff consists of Norma Rosner and Patsy Woodson.  Bulletins, reports, finances and basically ‘running the church’ is completed by these two capable people.  One of them is most likely the first friendly voice (of many) you will hear when you call the church office. 

The sexton is Jeff Maritch who is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building. 

Tony Curcio is St. John’s property manager.  Tony oversees the property maintenance and security of St. John’s.
