Children in Worship
We believe that children should be present for parts of worship to feel comfortable and to join in community with all members.  However, we also understand that many children can feel left out or have a lot of energy during the service.  Therefore, we have created a means for children’s participation without feeling overwhelmed or bored.

Activity Bags are available in the Narthex (hallway in the back of the church) for children to use during the service.  Bags include coloring materials, toys, books, and other things to help children feel at home in church.

Children’s Chat is appropriate for ages 3 to 6 grade.  This is a special time where children are able to come up front and hear a message specifically for them.  Chats are almost every Sunday.

The Nursery is staffed and provided after each children’s chat (before the sermon) until the end of the service.  Children come back to the sanctuary during communion for a blessing/prayer or to receive communion.  Nursery is for children 5 and under and staffed with a paid staff person.

Worship at St. John’s

Sunday worship is at 10:30am
(9:30am during the summer).

St. John’s believes that worship, like everything else, is a time for all people.  Thus, we celebrate the full inclusion of all people of all ages and abilities.  Our worship is traditionally based using The Lutheran Book of Worship and With One Voice and includes Holy Communion every Sunday.   However, we also believe that worship should be fun and a little different each week to remind us that God is present in the expected and the unexpected. 

Accessibility both in and to worship is important. At St. John's, handicap parking is available in the lot. Ramps, wheelchair accessible bathrooms, and an elevator are all available in the building. Additionally, we offer large print bulletins and hymnals along with individual sound amplification devices for worship. Ask a greeter or usher for any of these items.
